EUROstor has announced a new generation of ES-8700 iSCSI RAID systems, which, in addition to the already existing replication between two systems, also offers automatic failover. With this product, a cluster solution can be installed that fulfils the need for high availability.
These iSCSI RAIDs, based on the Open-E's Data Storage Server software, are equipped with a RAID 5 hardware controller and can be expanded to up to 122 disk drives - resulting in a maximum capacity of 122 TB on SATA disks and 54 TB on SAS disks. They are flexible storage systems, offering not only volume expansion on the fly, local snapshots and options, Fibre Channel ports for host connection, but also the ability to be used as NAS file servers under Windows and Linux.
Special with this new series: they are also available with 2.5'' SAS and SATA disk drives. Power consumption of these disks is less than a third of what a solution with the same capacity based on 3.5'' disks typically needs. Furthermore, smaller cooling systems are required. Thus these systems reduce TCO and at the same time are a good step towards green IT.
