TEDA Opens an Industrial SOLID Waste Exchange Website

TIANJIAN, China, April 15 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) announced the formal opening of the TEDA Industrial Solid Waste Exchange Website ( http://www.teda.gov.cn/hbjapp/market.jsp ). As the exclusive website for such a purpose in China, it will promote the circulation of material flow and the recycle of resources in the area. TEDA has offered training regarding the function and use of the website to more than 100 enterprises in the area and organized relevant publicity activities.

Designed in response to the TEDA Industrial Solid Waste Management System, the website aims at reducing pollution, raising the use rate of resources, saving capital and laying a good foundation for the construction of the TEDA Ecological Industrial Park. It will provide enterprises with all kinds of information on waste exchange and promote the exchange and re-use of industrial waste between enterprises. Its contents cover waste in such various categories as food waste, compost materials, waste steel and plastic waste, etc., with detailed information under each category. On the website, enterprises may read, search and publish information on solid waste exchange at any time. The designated personnel for website administration will be responsible for information maintenance and distribution. Information on enterprises' demands will be published upon verification. Meanwhile, enterprises may obtain feedback with the help of the website administrators.

Brief Introduction to Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area

Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (abbreviated to TEDA, with ''Taida'' as its Chinese transliteration) was established in 1984, upon the approval of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. It was one of the first state-level economic and technological development zones in the country.

Located in the centre of the Circum-Bohai economic circle and in the east of the Eurasia continental bridge, TEDA is a portal to such two metropolises as Beijing and Tianjin and a vital passage to Northeast China. So far over 3,300 overseas-founded companies have settled in TEDA. Among them 93 are founded by 44 corporations of the Fortune Global 500 like Motorola, Samsung, Toyota Motor, etc. In 2000, TEDA was acclaimed by Fortune of U.S. as ''the most admired industrial park of China.'' In 2002, it was elected by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), along with five other Chinese cities and areas including Shenzhen, Suzhou, Pudong New Area of Shanghai, etc., ''the most dynamic regions of China.''
