(October 25, 2002) - To expand iSeries user options for the most popular evolving infrastructures, HiT Software's DB2Motion v3.0 now adds Oracle9i and MySQL databases to its set of supported platforms. These newest platforms are in addition to existing SQL Server, Oracle, and iSeries support. Using DB2Motion, iSeries and AS/400 administrators can define bi-directional data replication while optionally extending detailed control via standard VBScript. DB2Motion now includes support for Oracle9i on multiple platforms, and support for its features such as the online dictionary for transaction log access, "N" data types for language dependent character sets, and TNS database access. Replication can be set for single or regular refresh or for continuous mirroring. When Oracle9i tables are defined as a replication source, transactions logs are monitored for accuracy and timely data replication. DB2Motion has also added support for MySQL as a replication target and metadata repository. MySQL is the world's most widely used open source database. DB2Motion supports MySQL databases regardless of the platform where MySQL is running. DB2Motion transparently addresses any necessary code page translation issues between iSeries and AS/400 and MySQL databases. DB2Motion includes iSeries and AS/400 connectivity for versions of OS/400 between V3R1 and V5R2. Data traffic between the Windows DB2Motion server and iSeries server can optionally be SSL v3.0 encrypted when used with the HiT SSL Server. HiT DB2Motion v3.0 is installed on Windows 2000 and NT 4 server platforms. Trial versions will be available for download in November at http://www.hitsw.com/. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
