Nvidia says it's going to appeal a decision by the International Trade Commission (ITC) Monday finding that it infringes three Rambus patents and banning the import of certain products containing Nvidia's graphics chips and the sale of product already in the country starting in 60 days. Apparently Nvidia can still sell the widgets under a licensing arrangement Rambus reached with the European Commission last year that sets a royalty rate. Rambus still claims Nvidia owes it eight years worth of damages and is suing to get that money. The ITC can't award monetary damages.
HP was also implicated by the ITC's order along with Asus, MSI, EVGA, Diablo Tek, Biostar Microtek and BFG Technologies. To add to its troubles, Nvidia Wednesday cut its second-quarter revenue estimates, blaming weak consumer spending in Europe and China and the increased cost of memory. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
