Coming from Google: Cloud Books
The service would go up against Amazon and Apple
May. 4, 2010 04:47 PM
Google is supposed to start selling digital books from an e-book store called Google Editions in June or July. The service would go up against Amazon and Apple. The e-books are supposed to be readable on any device. Google has previously said that publishers will get 63% of whatever the revenue turns out to be and retailers will also be able to sell them kicking back ~45% of the price to the publisher and paying Google a fee. At launch there should be somewhere between 400,000 and 600,000 titles available that Google has arranged distribution rights to.
