Antitrust Suit Could Checkmate Google
The Federal Trade Commission may object to Google’s proposed $750 million acquisition of AdMob

The Federal Trade Commission, supported by members of Congress, Microsoft and public interest groups, may object to Google's proposed $750 million acquisition of AdMob, the mobile advertising start-up.

Bloomberg said that the FTC's staff is recommending that the agency file an antitrust suit. The decision is up to the FTC's five commissioners.

It would be the second time the U.S. government has blocked Google's ambitions. The company had to back off a deal with Yahoo after the Justice Department threatened an antitrust suit.

All Things Digital, which expects the agency to seek an injunction probably next week, suspects that AdMob may suffer collateral damage.
