"Soon" is the timetable for Google and China to come to terms over censorship, according to what CEO Eric Schmidt told reporters Wednesday at a media conference in Abu Dhabi, a country also known to black out news on occasion. Schmidt said Google was in active negotiations with the Chinese government. "I'm going to use the word ‘soon,' which I will not define otherwise," Reuters says he said in reference to a resolution. "There is no specific timetable. Something will happen soon." Register Today and Save $550 ! Meanwhile, half a world away in Washington Google's deputy general counsel Nicole Wong was telling a House committee that "Google is firm in its decision that it will stop censoring our search results for China" and if that means the company has to decamp then it will close up shop and leave. Google denies it's in league with the U.S. government, which has threatened to take China's censors to the World Trade Organization. Google is still censoring its search results two months after it said it would stop. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
