JavaFX Platform the Official Rich Client Technology for 2010 Winter Games
Java technology emerges as a true game-changer for how sport fans explore medal results online

Oracle has announced that JavaFX and Java platforms are being used as the Official Rich Client Technology by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC). Sport fans around the globe can now explore the historical Winter Games medal results through an innovative JavaFX application, Medal Wheel, available at http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-medals/geo-view/.

During the XXI Olympic Winter Games Vancouver2010.com, the official Web site of the 2010 Olympics, is expected to be one of the world's busiest Web destinations, attracting more than 1.5 billion hits. The Medal Wheel application enables users to examine Olympic Winter Games results from Chamonix 1924 to Vancouver 2010 in an engaging, intuitive environment. A highly graphical user interface encourages exploration of the history of the Olympic Winter Games by providing dynamic visualizations of medal results for countries, sport disciplines, and athletes. Additionally, the JavaFX Results Ticker widget, available on February 12, 2010, will enable sport fans to follow the 2010 Winter Games' medal results as they happen directly from the convenience of their desktop.
