The European Commission said Tuesday that it could have a decision on the Microsoft-Yahoo deal by February 19. Microsoft is supposed to get effective control of Yahoo's search engine business. The deal was announced last July. And to ensure it doesn't have any problems with the EC, Microsoft said it will anonymize the user data collected by its newfangled Bing search engine after six months like Europe's privacy police want but it'll take a year and a half to go over to the new worldwide system. It currently keeps the data for 18 months. Google has yet to oblige the Article 29 Working Group. Europe is the largest market for Internet searches, representing 32% of the total according to Comscore, with Google owning 80% and Microsoft 2%. Reader Feedback: Page 1 of 1
