Jaspersoft has released the first enterprise edtion of its business intelligence software suite. Jaspersoft whose software was initially targeted at small and medium business owners, has now expanded it's horizons to larger enterprises with the latest launch. It claims to offer the same functions found in more expensive proprietary BI platforms like Oracle's or SAP's such as "in-memory analysis capabilities and more to solve enterprise-class BI problems for organizations of all sizes," Adoption of open-source business intelligence software is doubling every year because the products are viewed as "good enough" for routine applications, according to a recent report by Gartner Inc. analyst Andreas Bitterer. Commercial BI software vendors still have superior BI technology, he wrote, but "open-source is slowly becoming just another sourcing option for everyday BI requirements." No longer just an option for cash-strapped organizations, open-source BI tools are going mainstream, Bitterer said. The report cited five successful open-source BI organizations one of which is Jaspersoft. The JasperSoft 3.7 platformcomes in three editions: community, professional and enterprise. The new enterprise addition offers more advanced, scalable features like OLAP, data integration, audit logging and multi-tenancy capabilities. Additional perks include new search capabilities, FLASH-based interactive chart design , auto logging for compliance tracking, a multi-tenancy deployment option, a multidimensional ROLAP component, and improved extract, transform and load (ETL) capabilities. A one-year unlimited subscription to Jaspersoft starts at $35,000.
